Adorary ("we", "us") is an independent app developed and operated in the United States.
When you photograph something or choose an image from your library, that image is sent to Anthropic's AI API for identification. The image is transmitted securely and is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. Photos are saved on your device. If you enable cloud sync, a copy is uploaded to our secure cloud storage (Supabase) linked to your Apple ID account. Adorary is a field guide for nature, food, and objects — it is not designed to identify people (see "Facial recognition and people" below).
When you save a find, Adorary optionally records your approximate location (latitude, longitude, and place name) so you can remember where you found it. Location is stored on your device and, if you enable cloud sync, in your private cloud account. We never share your location with any third party.
Your field notes, collection names, and entry metadata are stored on your device. If you enable cloud sync, this data is stored in a private Supabase database accessible only with your Apple ID credentials. We do not share this data with third parties.
Cloud sync is optional and requires signing in with Apple. When you sign in, we receive a unique Apple user identifier. Apple may share your name and email address the first time you sign in; thereafter only the identifier is available to us. You can sign out at any time from Settings, which stops further syncing. Signing out does not delete cloud data already uploaded. To delete your account and all cloud data, use Settings → Delete account in the app, or contact us to request deletion.
We do not collect analytics, crash reports, or any usage telemetry. We have no visibility into how you use the app beyond the data you explicitly sync.
Adorary does not perform facial recognition. We do not detect, analyze, identify, or attempt to name individuals — whether private people or public figures — and we never create or store faceprints or any other biometric identifiers.
If the main subject of a photo appears to be a person or a human face, Adorary declines to identify it and does not add it to your collection. People who appear only incidentally in the background are not identified.
Anthropic (AI identification)
Photos submitted for identification are processed by Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic may retain submitted data per their own privacy policy.
Supabase (cloud sync)
If you enable cloud sync, your collection data and photos are stored in Supabase (supabase.com). Data is stored in the US (West/Oregon region). See Supabase's privacy policy.
We do not use advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social media SDKs.
Your data lives on your device. If you enable cloud sync, a private copy is stored in Supabase under your Apple ID. If you delete the app without signing in, all data is deleted with it. If you signed in, local data is deleted but your cloud copy remains; delete your account from Settings → Delete account in the app, or contact us to delete it.
Adorary is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
To remove locally stored data, delete the app. To delete your account and all cloud-synced data, open Settings → Delete account in the app. You can also contact us at support@adorary.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request."
For questions about data Anthropic may hold from identification requests, contact Anthropic directly at anthropic.com/privacy.
If we materially change how data is handled, we will update this policy and notify users in the app before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
